Bodmas Use
1. The problem asks: In what situations do we use BODMAS?
2. BODMAS is an acronym that stands for Brackets, Orders (i.e., powers and roots), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.
3. It is a rule used to clarify the order of operations when evaluating mathematical expressions.
4. According to BODMAS, you first solve expressions inside brackets, then powers and roots, followed by division and multiplication (from left to right), and finally addition and subtraction (from left to right).
5. This rule ensures that everyone solves expressions in the same order and gets the same answer.
6. For example, in the expression $3 + 6 \times (5 + 4) \div 3 - 7$, you first calculate inside the brackets $(5 + 4) = 9$.
7. Then multiply and divide from left to right: $6 \times 9 = 54$, then $54 \div 3 = 18$.
8. Finally, perform addition and subtraction from left to right: $3 + 18 = 21$, then $21 - 7 = 14$.
9. So, BODMAS is used whenever you have expressions with multiple operations to determine the correct order to solve them.
